Meat & Potatoes, or Cake & Ice cream?
A friend of mine wanted a steak for his birthday so I decided to create a desert that looks like a steak dinner.
For the steak I baked a sheet cake. I cut it into eight even square portions. I took a small knife and cut each square into a rough heart shape. I them shaped white gumpaste into a bone and fit it into the cake. I frosted each piece with chocolate frosting. I then used a tooth pick dipped in black gel food coloring to make the grill marks. Finally I sprinkled a small amount of black sprinkles on each piece to look like pepper.
For the brussel sprouts I took the leftover cake and frosting and used it to make cake balls. I then dipped the cake balls in white chocolate and frosted them with green frosting using a petal tip.
For the baked potato I took vanilla ice cream and formed it into oval shapes. I then refroze them uncovered. Then mixed brown sugar and cinnamon and rolled the icecream in it and froze it covered until ready to use. Right before serving I put a small dollop of whipped cream on each and sprinkle with green sprinkles.
This was a fun project and my friend very much enjoyed the treat.

Mustache Bash
I attende a party called the Mustache Bash and made these little treats to fit the theme.
The apples were pretty easy. I just dipped them in caralmel and them piped the mustahces on using white and chocolate frosting. The chocolate ustahces are also fairly easy. I just melted semi-sweet chocolate chips and put them in a mustache mold whit lollipop sticks.

Caramel Apples
As fall fell upon us I was suddenly in the mood to make caramel apples. However I didn't want to make just regular caramel apples. So I put a little twist on some of them. There are the classics with reeses pieces and toffee bits. Also I made a Rocky Road apple using marshmallows, pecans and a chocolate drizzle. A Smore apple wich I dipped in choclate them dipped in crushed graham crackers and topped with marchmallows. A Spiced apple that was dipped in white chocolate and sprinkled with cinnamon. A Cherry Apple which is dipped in dried cherries and almonds and drizzled with white chocolate. Cookies and Cream which is dipped in white chocolate and crushed oreos and then drizzled with chocolate.

Made to Order
This cake a co-worker wanted for a friends 30th birthday party. I made the shoes out of gumpaste which I like working with more than fondant. The cake is red velvet. The bottom layer is a 14" cake and the top layer is 10". The frosting is cream cheese colored with black food coloring. I sprinkled pink sugar pearls on the bottom layer.

Chocolate Trifle
I got a new trifle bowl and decided the first creation should be something full of dark chocolate. This trifle is layered with brownies, chocolate chips, strong coffee, chocolate pudding and whipped cream.

Death by Chocolate: what a good way to die.
For my friends birthday she just wanted chocolate. So I made my version of a death by chocolate cake. Chocolate chips on the inside and the outside, chocolate cream between the layers, and a very rich choclate buttercream frosting. It was delicous!
Holly's thoughts: "What a beautiful and delicous looking cake! I'm so pleased and I think I'm Donna Reed"
